Eminent educationist and IIT Guru Sri Chukka Ramaiah formally released the Butterfly Edufields developed ‘Concept Maps’ in the presence of K. Sharat Chandra, Founder – Director, Butterfly Fields, here today. ‘Concept Maps’ is a comprehensive revision tool for IITJEE and AIEEE aspirants, developed by a group of IITians and experts, taking inspiration from Chukka Ramaiah’s teaching philosophy that IIT-JEE is not about repetition.

Concept Map as a tool explains concepts along with the inter linkages between the concepts & facilitates in understanding the crux of the chapter. The entire syllabus for the preparation can be covered more effectively using these maps. The Concept Maps have already got raving reviews from IITians & educationists. Sri Ramaiah garu lauded the efforts and initiatives of Butterfly fields. He said that Concepts maps are innovative products and would be very helpful to the students for effective revision.

The Concept Books cover one topic in just one page, thus enabling the student to understand the crux of a theory at a single go instead of flipping over different pages in a textbook, which is distracting, stressful and time consuming. Students can revise the entire subject in very short time through Concept Books. “We believe, if the brain of the student is stimulated with correct thinking and effective learning tools, excellent results can be obtained,” says Sharat Chandra. Selective problems have also been provided along with the maps to help students practice the key problem types.  

Through a Concept Map both Right (interpreting colour, images, rhythms and spatial awareness) & Left (Understanding lists, lines, sequences, letters and numbers) parts of the brain would be put into use.

The relevance of products like Concept Maps is even more significant considering the fact that many of the IIT-JEE & AIEEE aspirants from smaller towns don’t have access to proper mentoring & guidance, adds Sharat Chandra. For the benefit of such students, these books would be sent to their home address also through VPP. The Concept Map books are available at all the leading book stores. The set of three books priced at 1050/- is being offered at a discounted price of Rs 750/- only.  These maps are also available in online interactive format as well.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Chukka Ramaiah said, students have made me ‘IIT Ramiah’. I haven’t studied for IIT nor did any research work on IIT. I was educated in Urdu medium in a remote corner of Telangana. My background didn’t justify becoming an IIT student. In my case the students’ accomplishments gained me the reputation. Growth in the number of IIT students from Andhra Pradesh is a sudden development. My daughter got selected for IIT counseling in 1983 and I was also called as a parent for counseling at Chennai.

I was greatly disappointed to find only 20 students from Andhra Pradesh out of 400 students at counseling, despite Andhra’s population being much bigger. This prompted me to take up IIT coaching after my retirement in 1984 but not a single student from the first batch got selected. However 7 got selected from 20 students in the 85-86 batch. My students have always had the determination and dedication to accomplish their goal of joining IIT against all odds.

I have learnt the subject more from the 25 batches of students who passed out from my institute than from the University where I studied. He said off late coaching of IIT has denigrated in Andhra Pradesh. Both the economic affordability factor and the State are responsible for the state of affairs today. Several students get ranks but their knowledge of the subject is woefully poor. The students coming out of the IIT are no more of the same caliber as earlier. IITs make students to think and come out with innovative solutions. He desired that the objective type examination system should be scrapped and should be analysis oriented. He lauded Butterfly Edufields for bringing out Concept Maps.
